The Odisha Civil Service exam pattern is mainly divided into 3 exams - Preliminary Exam, Main Exam and Personality Test/ Interview.
Preliminary Exam Pattern
- Prelims is a screening exam with Multiple Choice Questions.
- The exam will be divided into 2 papers (Paper 1 & Paper 2) of 2 hours each.
- Paper 2 is qualifying in nature and candidates have to score above 33% to be able to attend the mains exam.
- For every wrong answer, 1/3rd of the assigned mark will be deducted.

Mains Exam Pattern
After the candidate has cleared their preliminary examination, they are called in for the Main exam. Odisha Civil Services Main Exam is further divided into 2 parts i.e the Compulsory Subject and the Optional Papers.
- The main exam is an essay based exam comprising 9 exam sets.
- Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be of 10th std. level and are qualifying in nature
- Each paper has 3 hours each.

The Candidate must clear all the exams with passing marks set by the commission in order to secure their position with the OPSC Civil Services.
