IAS 2019 Application Form for Prelims will be available from February 19, 2019. Candidates can apply for online IAS Exam on the official website. Candidates are advised to keep all their documents handy while registering for IAS Exam.

UPSC/IAS Prelims 2019 Registration

The Candidates appearing for IAS prelims exam should fill out the application form at upsc.gov.in. All IAS aspirants have to register separately for IAS Prelims and IAS Mains. Application for IAS Prelims will not be considered for IAS Mains. Application Form for IAS prelims is open to all the eligible graduates. The following steps should be followed to apply for IAS prelims.

Steps to Apply for IAS Prelims Exam 

IAS Application Form will be available on the official website from February month. Candidates are advised to gather their documents before starting their IAS Prelims Application Process. Steps followed to fill the IAS online form are given below:

Step 1: Registration Part I

  • Visit the official website and click on the link to apply for UPSC Civil Services
  • Enter the details Name, Gender, Category, Nationality and other personal details.
  • Click on Submit button
  • You are redirected to the payment step

Step 2: Payment of Application Fee

  • Choose the payment method between online or offline mode
  • Offline mode includes downloading the Pay-in-slip provided on the page and paying in cash at nearest branch of State Bank of India during working hours of the bank
  • Online mode includes payment through debit/credit card or net banking
  • If you choose Debit Card, enter the Card number, Validity and CVV number
  • If you choose Credit Card, enter the Card number, Validity and 6 digit special PIN number
  • For net banking, enter the account details of the bank account
  • Click on pay now post filling the details
  • You are redirected to the Part II of the UPSC Online Form
Note: This step is not applicable for candidates who are exempted from paying the fee.

Step 3: Registration Part II

  • Post receipt of the fee payment, fill the other details of the IAS Application form
  • Enter the choice of IAS Exam Center
  • Enter the qualification and other communication details asked correctly
  • Post verification, click on submit to proceed to the next step

Step 4: Uploading the Images

  • Click on the link or blank space provided to upload the photograph
  • Browse the location of the image and select the image
  • Click on open/upload
  • Check if the image is opened correctly and clearly
  • Repeat the same steps to upload the image of the signature
  • Click on “I Agree” to approve the declaration and submit the complete IAS Online Form.

IAS 2019 Prelims Application Fee

Fee of INR 100 is required for IAS Exam Registration. The Fee can be paid either via online or offline mode. Female and SC/ST/PwD candidates are exempted from fee payment. For IAS prelims, Fee of INR 100 should be paid.

The fee can be paid in both offline and online mode. For offline method of fee payment, the candidate must remit the amount in any Branch of SBI. For online options the candidate can opt either for Net Banking facility or for payment through a debit / credit card.
Candidates paying cash will need to take a print out of the system generated Pay-in-slip. The Pay in Slip is generated during part II of the registration process. Cash must be deposited at the counter of a SBI Branch on the next working day only.
Candidates failing to pay the fee by cash by the closing date, despite having valid pay-in-slip, will have to resort to online modes of fee payment.

Documents Required for IAS Prelims

Candidates are required to assemble the following documents prior to IAS Exam 2019 Registration to ensure accurate and correct data. Any mismatch between the actual information and the registered information will result in cancellation of candidature

  • Medical certificate, if reuiqred

IAS Application Form Important Instructions

Following pointers should be kept in mind while registering for IAS prelims. It is of utmost importance to follow the mentioned instructions.
  • The candidate must not impersonate any other person in order to submit a successful application.
  • Offering illegal gratification to a person related to the exam conducting body so as to have their application accepted must not be engaged in.
  • Applying pressure on any member of the exam authority in relation to the application process is strictly prohibited.
  • Threatening or blackmailing any of the authorities is not allowed.
  • Submitting fabricated documents or documents which have been tampered with as part of the application is prohibited.
  • Candidates must refrain from making incorrect or false statements with regard to their application.
  • Submitting multiple applications should be avoided.
  • In case of multiple applications, the application with higher Registration ID (RID) will be considered.
  • The candidate must ensure that the application with the higher RID is complete in all respects.
  • Care must be taken to provide a valid and active email address at the time of application.

IAS prelims 2019 Admit Card

IAS Prelims 2019 Admit Card will be available to download two weeks prior of IAS Exam. Aspirants can download IAS Admit Card from the Official website of UPSC. No admit card will be delivered through Post. The exam will be conducted on multiple dates starting from June 2, 2019. IAS prelims Admit Card contains important details such as the candidate’s name, roll number, photograph, date and venue of exam and test timing.
The admit card is the primary document that needs to be carried on the day of the exam and must be kept safe. Without the hall ticket, entry inside the test centre will not be allowed. Along with Admit Card, a valid Photo ID must be presented along with IAS prelims 2019 Admit Card at theIAS Exam Centre.

Ques.1 How much time is given to the candidates for applying online?

Ans.  A candidate gets 3 weeks to 1 month to complete the application procedure.

Ques. 2 What happens if a candidate submits multiple online applications?

Ans.  This must be avoided but, in case of doing so, the data provided in the final application that is successfully submitted online will be accepted by the Commission. All previous applications will be ignored.

Ques.3 When should I apply if I choose to pay by Bank Challan?

Ans.  Candidates, who make payments through Bank Challan, are required to submit the online application at least a day before the notified closing date.

Ques. 4 Can a candidate change the Date of Birth after having submitted the online application?

Ans.  The Commission does not allow change of Date of Birth that has been furnished by a candidate and recorded by the Commission on any ground whatsoever.

Ques. 5 What action is taken by the Commission in case of submission of false information by the candidates?

Ans.  A candidate found to be furnishing false information to the Commission or suppressing information, adopting various unfair means in the examination like impersonation, etc., is liable to be disqualified or debarred from writing IAS Exam as decided by the Commission.
