WHAT IS SOLARCITY
Like smart city solarcity refers to the city where every work that needed electricity can use solar energy electricity instead of any powered electricity. For any kind of purposes the people of city can depend on solar electricity,so that no power cut happen,no pollution occure, and the cost of electricity should reduced. So that a eco-friendly social pollution free atmosphere could made with fulfillment of our energy requirement.
WHAT IS SOLAR ENERGY
It is a renewable form of energy source which is produced when sun light fall on solar cell called solar panel and get converted into electrical energy.which is very simple, valuable, and important for every country now because
it is renewable, more efficient,no pollution, low cost, anyone can implement easily at roof of their home, school, hospital even electric motor vehicle also.it is interesting thing is that most of our satellite works by solar energy in space.
WHAT IS SOLAR CELL(solar panel)
A solar cell, or photovoltaic cell , is an electrical device that converts the energy of light directly into electricity by the photovoltaic effect, which is a physical and chemical phenomenon. It is a form of photoelectric cell, defined as a device whose electrical characteristics, such as current, voltage, or resistance, vary when exposed to light. Solar cells are the building blocks of photovoltaic modules, otherwise known as solar panels.

HOW SOLAR CELL WORKS (MECHANISM):
Solar electric systems use solar cells to convert the Sun's radiant energy into electricity. This is done using a principle known as the photovoltaic effect.
Since a solar cell only generates about 1-2 Watts of power, it is necessary to combine them into solar power panels in order to generate more power. Solar panels are in turn combined to form solar arrays.
These solar panels and arrays are the key component of all residential solar energy systems. The other components of the system convert the generated DC electricity into AC electricity so it can be used by the electrical appliances in your home.
The solar cell works in several steps:
- Photons in sunlight hit the solar panel and are absorbed by semiconducting materials, such as silicon.
- Electrons are excited from their current molecular/atomic orbital. Once excited an electron can either dissipate the energy as heat and return to its orbital or travel through the cell until it reaches an electrode. Current flows through the material to cancel the potential and this electricity is captured. The chemical bonds of the material are vital for this process to work, and usually silicon is used in two layers, one layer being doped with boron, the other phosphorus. These layers have different chemical electric charges and subsequently both drive and direct the current of electrons.[2]
- An array of solar cells converts solar energy into a usable amount of direct current (DC) electricity.
- An inverter can convert the power to alternating current (AC).
The most commonly known solar cell is configured as a large-area p–n junction made from silicon. Other possible solar cell types are organic solar cells, dye sensitized solar cells, perovskite solar cells, quantum dot solar cells etc. The illuminated side of a solar cell generally have a transparent conducting film for allowing light to enter into active material and to collect the generated charge carriers. Typically, films with high transmittance and high electrical conductance such as indium tin oxide, conducting polymers or conducting nanowire networks are used for the purpose
HOW SOLAR ENERGY PRODUCED
The solar panels are made up of photovoltaic (PV) cells, which convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity throughout the day. This device converts the DC electricity generated by the solar panels into the alternating current (AC) electricity.Simply put, home solar power systems work by converting the Sun's electromagnetic energy into either solar thermal energy or solar electricity.
Solar heating systems create solar thermal energy using solar collectors. The heat generated by the solar collectors is used for solar water heating, solar space heating, or solar pool heating.
Solar electric systems create solar electricity using solar power panels. The DC electricity generated by the solar panels is converted to AC current and can be used by all of your household appliances.
The following are the different types of solar cells.(solar panel)
- Amorphous Silicon solar cell (a-Si)
- Biohybrid solar cell.
- Buried contact solar cell.
- Cadmium telluride solar cell (CdTe)
- Concentrated PV cell (CVP and HCVP)
- Copper indium gallium selenide solar cells (CI(G)S)
- Crystalline silicon solar cell (c-Si)
